“When We Danced,” spanning 15 minutes, follows the story of a Filipino who left his homeland in search of a better life in America but discovers a new purpose amid failed dreams in teaching his grandson how to dance.

“The hardest thing was actually making the film because I wanted to use Filipino actors, Filipino crew, trying to find the right cast to use and to nurture was a journey. Also, shooting it during COVID was also really challenging,” shared Moore in an interview at the Red Carpet with SoJannelleTV. “Now, it all paid off.”

Main stars Angelina Jara and Darion Basco also graced the event and spoke of their experience working with Moore on the short film.

“Darion was such a great scene partner, so it was really fun to just use my facial expressions and our body language as well,” Jara said.

“Dance was a really big part of it as well, so movement was important. What Ryan wrote, it was easy to have that intention and play that,” continued Basco. “And the story was beautiful and it was something that we want to tell about our people. In a lot of ways, it’s very similar to the stuff I want to do as an artist.”
