Filipino Celebrities Featured in Painting with Pope Francis
Pope Francis is visiting this week, and everyone’s excited. This artist was so excited that he painted a special portrait of the Pope, with Filipino celebrities… dressed as farmers. The painting, titled Salubong, was painted by visual artist Dante Hipolito. According to him, the painting follows the composite realism movement, which uses “filmmaking elements of production design, photography and digital art based on his experience in stage production and advertising.”
The 29″x24″ portrait features Gov. Vilma Santos, Gary Valenciano, Sen. Grace Poe, Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Coco Martin and Kris Aquino.
Salubong will be displayed at ARTleadoff 2015, a group show at Galeria de las Islas of the Silahis Center in Intramuros from January 25 to February 20.
