“Fair Complexion” Requirement to Work at Restaurant Causes Uproar

A pizza chain has caused an uproar from netizens as a photo of their job board has made its rounds online.

In the photo shared many times over, the job description requires applicants to have “fair complexion,” along with an age and height requirement. It angered many netizens as they questioned what skin complexion, age or height have to do with serving pizza. Many also claimed this to be a form of unfair discrimination based on appearance.

The original post from Sab A. had the following caption:

Today, my dad & I came across something very disturbing. There was a sign posted looking for people to join the restaurant staff. Unfortunately, one of the qualifications is that the applicant has to be fair. This is very disappointing, especially living in the Philippines where most of the population comprises of people with olive and brown complexions. How does the skin color even have anything to do with being a good restaurant staff? So now anyone with a dark complexion is deprived of a work opportunity? I found this sign very derogatory and insulting. I hope the management can do something about it soon.

Below is the photo of the job description requiring the “fair complexion.”
