Jack CITY: A Jack TV Sidequel

When In Manila, Cable TV giant Solar Entertainment Corporation introduces their newest network for its more mature audience. Jack CITY is dubbed as a “sidequel” to the top-rating general entertainment channel Jack TV. Whilst Jack TV features programs spanning various genres including comedy, reality shows, sitcoms, and drama, Jack CITY offers programs characterized by drama in the urbane landscape, or as Jack TV marketing manager Lindsay Ngo calls it, “drama with style.”

Starting its full broadcast last November 11, 2012, Jack CITY caters to a more mature audience of young adults (20+ years old) and above. The channel is available on SkyCable 84, Global Destiny 60, and on free TV 31 (via Beam).

As a sidequel to Jack TV, DC’s Green Arrow-inspired series “Arrow” and dark fairytale drama “Grimm” are simultaneously shown in Jack CITY. The latest seasons of favorite crime dramas NCIS, Burn Notice, White Collar, among others are also part of Jack CITY‘s roster of shows.

But enough with the shows you can find elsewhere. What new shows does Jack CITY have to offer?

US dramas shown for the first time in the Philippines care of Jack CITY include Elementary, a contemporary adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, and Vegas, a series written by Nicholas Pileggi of Goodfellas fame.

Some fun facts about the two shows: As a contemporary twist to Sherlock Holmes, the backdrop for Elementary is set in present-day New York, and the producers of the show curiously chose to give Dr. Watson a sex change (Dr. Joan Watson in the series), played by the ever-hot Lucy Liu.

As a “The Godfather”, “Scarface”, “Boardwalk Empire” fan, I’m personally more intrigued by Vegas, a mob drama set in 1960’s Sin City. Boasting of an all-star cast with Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis, and Carrie-Anne Moss, catch this violent drama every Thursday at 9 PM.

In 2013, Jack CITY will be bringing in more shows including post-apocalyptic Revolution and serial killer hunt The Following

When In Manila, TV just got a little better with Jack CITY (and for Global Destiny sports nuts, Balls Channel in Ch. 36! YAY!). Check them out on Facebook and Twitter for updates on their shows.
