The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) has taken pioneering steps to help raise the voice of the country’s next generation of business leaders through a committee membership platform.

As a bilateral business organization that recognizes the important role of the youth in shaping the business landscape in the country, the ECCP has created a Young Professionals Committee (YPC) to promote the inclusion of youth in business.

The YPC offers emerging under-40 business leaders, including corporate professionals and business owners, a dynamic forum to make a difference in both the local and international business environment by means of innovative strategies, ideas, advocacies and events specifically designed for the development of young professionals and entrepreneurs in the Philippines and the creation of a future business environment based on a strong commitment to sustainability, inclusivity and integrity.

“I deeply appreciate the progress the ECCP YPC has made. I am convinced that this group will become a powerful force in driving ECCP into new directions and influencing advocacies, seeing to it that entrepreneurship and social commitment become part of our mission,” said ECCP vice president and general manager Henry J. Schumacher.

The YPC introduces the benefits of chamber membership to a younger audience. It allows the ECCP to cultivate future full-time ECCP member individuals and corporations. In addition, by electing dedicated executive board officers to take the lead on focus areas such as advocacy, commerce, events, finance, I.T., and social media, the committee hopes to expose its members to the nuances of chamber membership and contributing to the general betterment of European-Philippine business relations.

“I would urge self-starters and companies to invest in their young professionals and allow them to join the activities of the YPC as it cultivates skills required today to succeed as supervisors, managers, and executives,” said YPC chair Alexander R.J. Lietz who juggles managing the operations of German-Philippine chemical trading company Rudolf Lietz Inc. and running a local craft beer maker called Juan Brew.

“Building relationships with like-minded individuals this early on not only instills confidence but also exposes professionals to new ideas and trends happening in different industries today. This is information that companies with a large or developing customer base need to make informed business decisions,” he added.

In this context, the ECCP is set to launch its YPC membership program that will allow both individual and corporate members to take advantage of the range of benefits similar to those available to full-time ECCP members, but more relevant to the needs of today’s early-stage professionals and enterprise-driven individuals. Membership perks include discounted access to exclusive YPC and ECCP events; access to business information and advisory services for easy market entry and smooth startups; marketing platforms for internationalizing business through trade fairs and business missions; priority invitation to ECCP-led CSR, sports, advocacy, social and community activities; and subscription to various ECCP publications and circulars. The biggest of all these benefits is the opportunity to develop meaningful interactions with ECCP full-time members ultimately providing a more well-rounded experience for both parties.

The ECCP has partnered with Century City Mall to stage the YPC Membership Launch and Networking Mixer at their modern glass-encased sprawling Events Center on 22 July 2015 at 7 pm. More than 200 participants including urban millennials, startups, SME owners, corporate executives, thought leaders, business VIPs, tastemakers, innovators, and the press are expected to join.

Aiming to promote entrepreneurial culture and establish the basis for continuing and future collaborative ties with the local startup and business community, the YPC has teamed up with a select group of 15 young entrepreneurs from different industries to showcase and sell their products. This mini-bazaar component will feature Acceler8, Aeternum Flower Beads, Bambike, Details Ink, Funk Trunk, Harpoon Co, Heima Home & Lifestyle, Loudbasstard, Pink Teacup Shoppe, Pluma_PH, Rags2Riches, Renegade Folk, Soak Artisan Soap, Urban Land Institute Philippines, and Wolfe + Huntr.

Guests will also enjoy networking with interesting individuals over cocktail food and drinks sponsored by San Miguel and Twinings. Generous raffle prizes such as Bambike vouchers, Loudbasstard items, and restaurant gift checks (Bait’s, Crisp on 28th, Hatch 22, Pink Panda, Sabao, and Sprout) from Erwan Heussaff, one of the country’s young successful F&B connoisseurs, will also be given away.

While a tariff of Php 500 per participant applies, those signing up for YPC membership before or during the event for Php 1,500 will be able to enter the event for free.
