Eastpak Artist Studio: Local Artists Come Together for a Cause

 

 

When in Manila or anywhere else in the world, really; Eastpak is loved by people of different ages, interests and walks of life. This is mostly thanks to its wide array of styles and models that suit different tastes. Eastpak is especially close to the hearts of Filipinos, though, because it supports creative people in different industries and helps those in need, as can be seen through their Eastpak Artist Studio.

 

 

 

 

What is the Eastpak Artist Studio?

 

 

The Eastpak Artist Studio is a project that involves artists from all over the world creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces out of blank Eastpak Padded Pak’r bags. The proceeds of the Eastpak Artist Studio then go to a charity organization called Designers Against Aids.

 

 

Past editions of Eastpak Artist Studio have involved more than 130 artists, including product designers, graphic designers, DJs and chefs. These talented people created more than 200 unique designs for the Eastpak Artist Studio.

This is the third time that Bratpack’s creative platform, Bratpack Remix, has joined Eastpak Artist Studio and gathered Filipino artists to represent the country and join this meaningful cause. This year, five local artists were tapped to promote creative freedom and social awareness through the Eastpak Artist Studio.

 

Here are their designs, which were showcased at Vinyl during the Eastpak Artist Studio event:

 

 

 

John Paul “Apol” Sta. Maria for Eastpak Artist Studio

 

 

Apol Sta. Maria usually breathes life into different characters through artworks and comic books. As such, it makes perfect sense that his pieces for this year’s Eastpak Artist Studio invokes both curiosity and humor in whoever comes across them.

 

 

 

Paolo Bernaldo for Eastpak Artist Studio

 

 

Paulo Bernaldo, most commonly known as Moonstar 88’s bassist, also happens to be an award-winning music video director for local and foreign artists, including Parokya ni Edgar and David Archuleta. He also happens to be a tattoo and graphic artist.

 

 

 

Resty Tica for Eastpak Artist Studio

 

 

Resty Tica’s designs for Eastpak Artist Studio are very patriotic, including kalesas and jeepneys famous to the Philippines. Aside from creating impressive works of art, Resty Tica is also a print graphic artist and award-winning painter.

 

 

 

JP Cuison for Eastpak Artist Studio

 

 

Given my intense love for Star Wars, it should make complete sense that JP Cuison’s bags for Eastpak Artist Studio are my favorites. An exceptional trendsetter in graphic arts, JP Cuision is also famous in the world of Philippine advertising.

 

 

 

Happy Andrada for Eastpak Artist Studio

 

 

The bags that really stood out at this year’s Eastpak Artist Studio, though, are those by Happy Andrada, who represents the local fashion and art scene. We were told that this piece at the Eastpak Artist Studio was the favorite one of many, despite the fact that it would be a bit hard to carry around. :p

As you can see, Eastpak and Bratpack Remix truly believe in the importance of creative expression. Through the Eastpak Artist Studio, both brands hope to nurture and support local artists and contribute to a meaningful cause When in Manila or elsewhere.
