After 20 long years, the ridiculously silly duo Lloyd and Harry are back for more laughs and hilarity in this sequel. Dumb and Dumber To reunites Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for a funny pre-Christmas treat for every movie junkie.
Dumb and Dumber To follows the story of Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Daniels) after, yes, 20 years. Lloyd is confined in a mental hospital and is regularly visited by his best friend until finally, after Harry confesses his kidney problem and says his words of goodbye (as he needs to undergo medication), Lloyd snaps out of his unresponsive state prank.
Instead of getting angry, Harry finds it awesome and they just laugh off the joke. After they get back together, they decide to look for a kidney donor to save Harry’s life. And in their quest to look for that possible donor, they eventually discover that Harry has actually fathered a child to his ex-girlfriend, Fraida Fletcher (Kathleen Turner).
When they find Fraida, it turns out that wealthy and intelligent people have adopted daughter Penny. They agree to look for Penny for the sake of getting to know her and possibly getting her kidney to extend Harry’s life.
Their merry-go-round journey turns into a series of absurdly hilarious catastrophic ventures that they, as usual, get to manage. The movie has a lot of gags and hoaxes that you’ll find yourself laughing about nonstop. It helps that the ending is unexpected and that every punchline is delivered so beautifully, you might just unconsciously punch your seat mate (pun intended).
The whole film is good from start to finish. It’s commendable that Carrey and Daniels are able to keep up with their characters after a long time, and that the storyline line is just plain strange and weird in a good way. instead of getting annoyed at their dumbness, it’s what makes them adorable for me. Adorably outrageous. It’s the perfect movie for those looking for a fun time at the cinema and for the kainis kind of good vibes.
