Dulaang Engineering 2017

main

The University of the Philippines Progressive, Responsive, Innovative Movement in Engineering (UP PRIME) has never stopped to create an avenue for the Engineering Students to showcase their talents in theater production through play performances that promote responsiveness on current trends and issues in the College, the University, and the Country through Dulaang Engineering.

This year’s BANYUHAY: Dulaang Engineering will focus on Philippine National Heroes, their legacies and advocacies and their relevance to contemporary issues that affront us.  The theme aims to give credit to individuals who selflessly offered their lives for greater causes, and how their convictions in the past will continue to guide us today.

The audience could expect a total theatrical experience from this year’s Dulaan. Unlike previous Dulaans, major changes will be implemented this year from the venue down to the rules, which form part of the major setbacks from the past years. From Teatro Marikina and TanghalangPasigueno, the organization has chosen UP FILM INSTITUTE to be this year’s venue, so as to avoid delays in the program due to proximity issues of past venues. Moreover, the rules and mechanics have been reviewed carefully using past years’ issues as basis to address concerns and ambiguities encountered in the past.

For the first time ever, Dulaang Engineering conducted a Script Reading Audition to select the Top 10 organizations who will perform in the Finals Night based on the script content, storyline, relevance to theme and delivery. The 10 successful organizations who made it to the finals are: UP Geodetic Engineering Club (UP GE Club), UP Materials Science Society (UP MSS), UP Association of Civil Engineering Students (UP ACES), UP Industrial Engineering Club (UP IE Club), UP Engineering Radio Guild (UP ERG), UP Chemical Engineering Society, Inc. (UP KEM), UP Academic League of Chemical Engineering Students (UP ALCHEMES), UP Engineering Society (UP Engg Soc), UP Computer Science Society (UP CURSOR) at UP Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Society (UP 49er’s). The finals night will be on March 2, 2017, 6:30 pm at the UP Film Institute.
