Dennis Garcia of Filipino Band Hotdog Passes Away

Dennis Garcia, bassist and co-founder of local band Hotdog, has passed away.

His youngest daughter, Isa, made the announcement on his Facebook account. In it, Isa revealed that Dennis had died on Saturday night, January 18. She did not mention the cause of his death.

“For those of you who knew my father, it grieves me to inform you all that he passed away tonight. We will keep you posted regarding the details of the wake,” she said. “Our grief at his sudden passing is infinite and now so is he. Thank you for being with us through this difficult time.”

Dennis’ brother, Rene, who co-founded Hotdog with him, died in 2018 due to cardiac arrest.

The band is known for their hit songs “Bongga Ka Day,” “Beh, Buti Nga,” “Annie Batungbakal,” and “Manila.” They are credited for pioneering the “Manila Sound” in the 70s.
