The movie musical about Evan Hansen, a highsSchool student with social anxiety, making up a series of lies to the family of his deceased classmate after the parents mistake Evan’s letter to himself as his classmate’s suicide note.
The musical opened on Broadway in 2016 and went on to win multiple Tony Awards, Drama League Awards, and the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
Ben Platt, the original actor cast to play Evan Hansen in the theater production, will reprise his role in the movie adaptation. He is joined by Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Nik Dodani, Colton Ryan, Danny Pino, Julianne Moore, and Amy Adams.
It is scheduled to be released on September 24, 2021, but there’s no word when it will screen in the Philippines.
