The CW’s next undertaking at a comic book adaptation centers on New Yorker Katy Keene, although perhaps a little different than what you might know of her from the Archie Comics. Instead of the successful model/actress/singer you would see gracing the pages of the latest issue, we’re getting a struggling Katy on the way to that success.

Katy Keene will tell Katy’s origin story, in a way, as well as that of her friends: Pepper, Jorge, and Josie (yes, from the Pussycats!). The show tells the story of “four friends optimistically trying to make their dreams come true in New York City.” It narrates the tale of Katy pursuing fashion, Pepper and her art, Jorge in theatre, and Josie with music.

The spin-off stars Lucy Hale as the title character, Julia Chan as Pepper, Jonny Beauchamp as Jorge, and Ashleigh Murray reprising her role as Josie. Roberto-Aguirre Sacasa and Michael Grassi, the men behind Riverdale, helm the show as both creators and executive producers. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater will also executive produce.
