As a way of supporting its host community in these difficult times and to curb the further spread of COVID-19, Filinvest Development Corporation (FDC), through Filinvest Hospitality, Chroma Hospitality, and Crimson Resort and Spa, Boracay, recently signed an agreement to donate 5,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to the people of the Municipality of Malay.
The Memorandum of Agreement was formally signed by Chroma Hospitality country manager James Montenegro and the Hon. Frolibar S. Bautista, Acting-Mayor of Malay, during a virtual ceremony held on Friday, August 13, 2021. Also present in the event is Patrick Manthe, general manager of Crimson Boracay.

The donation is in keeping with company’s commitment to ensure the health and safety of all its stakeholders and is part of Chroma Hospitality’s Culture of Clean program for safer, healthier experiences for guests, staff, and its host communities throughout the country.
“We firmly believe that the only way we get through this pandemic is if we have a stronger partnership between government and the private sector or private stakeholders of the island,” Montenegro said. “We chose Malay as the first beneficiary for these vaccines and we have prioritized this because we believe that Malays and the island of Boracay have been through a lot in the last few years, with the closure and now the COVID pandemic.”
For his part, Bautista expressed the municipality’s gratitude for the donation, stating that the vaccines would enable tourism on the island to bounce back from the impact of the pandemic. “This is a very big help to the [people of Malay] in order to complete the possibility of 100% vaccination not only on tourism workers [on the front lines], but also for the residents of Boracay,” he said.
Crimson Boracay is also the first hotel/resort on the island to make such a timely donation to the people of Malay. The vaccines are set to be distributed among those belonging to priority groups stated in the implementing guidelines of the National Vaccine Deployment Plan for COVID-19, including those working in the tourism and hospitality industries.
In doing so, Crimson Boracay is honoring its commitment to making Boracay Better Than Ever as the gesture aims to help the people of the island return to a more normal way of life as soon as possible.

Living Up to a Culture of Clean
As a way of taking the lead in protecting its employees and stakeholders against the virus, Crimson Boracay rolled out a rigorous testing protocol to its staff. The initiative has also been implemented at Crimson’s properties in Mactan and Manila, as well as to Quest Hotels in Cebu, Clark, and Tagaytay.
Likewise, FDC and Chroma Hospitality are set to donate additional vaccines to communities in Cebu and in Clark Field, Pampanga.
It is hoped that, thanks to active testing and ongoing vaccination initiatives, Boracay will soon be back on its feet and Crimson Boracay can once again open its doors to the public.
