Dr. Ebbing Lautenbach, chief of infectious disease at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine, told USA Today that “COVID Toes” are “ typically painful to touch and could have a hot burning sensation.”

Lautenbach also says that this is a symptom that manifests early on in the disease. She also says that “COVID Toes” are more evident in young children and young adults who may be asymptomatic or test negative on the early stages of the virus.
There have been no conclusive studies about this symptom yet, but doctors say that these lesions may appear because of the general inflammation that COVID-19 causes in the body. These can also mean that there might be a blood clot in the body.

It’s still unknown if “COVID Toes” are directly related to COVID-19, but doctors say it’s best to have them checked if there is no other reason for you to be having this symptom.
