In case you missed it, there was a partial solar eclipse yesterday. A partial solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and the Earth, thereby partly hiding the image of the sun from where we usually see it on Earth. Read more about it here.
Did you catch it? 18-year-old Donikko Balisi, a self-taught photographer based in Fairview, Quezon City, did. Specializing in automotive photography, Donikko shares that he usually looks forward to photographing rare events like this. In fact, he planned his shoot ahead of time after reading an online article about the eclipse.
Donikko shares that he used an iOS app called Night Sky and began to track the movement of the moon at around 3PM. He then set an alarm for 4:20PM to give himself ample time to adjust his framing and adapt to the lighting scenario during that time.
“At exactly 4:22PM, I shot the first photo with the thick clouds while it slowly covered the eclipse,” he shares. “Luckily, I waited for another minute or so and ended up capturing the second and final photo!”
