Earlier this year, it was announced that the Cinemalaya Film Festival will be postponed due to the COVID-19 threat. Now, it was announced that the annual festival will be pushing through, but with a different format.
According to the official Cinemalaya Facebook page, “Because we believe that no pandemic can break the Filipino spirit, creativity, and its film community, Cinemalaya continues to sail online on its 16th year.”
Of course, given the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will shift to purely digital. This year will feature the Online Short Film Festival and Competition.
The festival will be from August 14 to 23, 2020.
