The Voice singer and Youtube sensation Christina Grimmie was shot and is now in critical condition, during the singer’s own meet-and-greet after a concert at Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida.
Singer AJ Rafael posted the following status update on his Facebook page:
According to reports, as Christina and the band Before You Exit were attending to a meet-and-greet after their show, a gunman shot the singer. Grimmie’s brother tackled the gunman, who then killed himself shortly afterwards.
Police are still unsure how many shots were fired.
Christina was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center afterwards.
After news of the shooting spread, the hashtag #PrayForChristina trended on Twitter.

Orlando police confirmed via their Twitter account that Christina is still in critical condition.

UPDATE: Multiple reports have confirmed that the singer has sadly passed away. She was 22.
Grimmie’s rep issued the following statement:
“It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds,” the rep wrote. “We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning. Orlando police has said that “investigation is still in its preliminary stages”, and the motive of the shooting is still unknown.
