5 Tricks (or Treats) for a Fun Halloween Celebration at Home

Halloween isn’t going to be the same this year, that’s for sure. Whether you used to spend it dressing up, partying the night away, buying candies, or trick-or-treating with your kids; it is best to stay home this year due to the pandemic. However, just because we’re stuck at home doesn’t mean that we can’t have a spooktacular time with our families! There are actually a lot of things we can do to enjoy Halloween at home. Here are some ideas.

5 Tricks (or Treats) for a Fun Halloween Celebration at Home

5. Host a virtual Halloween party.

Virtual parties have become a great way to have fun even while stuck at home. The kids can virtually meet via video conferencing (with awesome backgrounds like the one above from ‘Over The Moon’) with their rooms decorated, spooky meals prepared, and lots of fun games to play.

Dress up with them and prepare a party flow with unique games, like Charades, virtual card games, and the like!

4. Dress up at home.

You don’t need to go out to dress up. Make costumes with your family’s help! There are so many options to choose from:, Steve’s Scoops Ahoy uniform from ‘Stranger Things’, or your favorite characters from the ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’, ‘Umbrella Academy’, or ‘The Witcher’!

All you need is creativity, clothes you already have at home, and a few accessories to make your favorite characters come to life. Your kids will definitely have fun making their own costumes to show off during virtual Halloween parties with friends!

3. Create Halloween-themed treats.

What’s Halloween without some yummy treats? You don’t need to stick to plain store-bought candy. With more time on our hands, consider cooking up meals and sweets to really complete the night and overall atmosphere.

Make your own creepy cookies and cupcakes, black magic cakes, or even your own ice cream sundae bar, just like the one from ‘The Willoughbys’! Your kids will have fun trick-or-treating at home as they lick their fingers making these.

2. Make some spooky decorations.

Keep the Halloween spirit alive by decorating your home and giving it a spooky ambiance. There are many DIY Halloween decorations you can make from carving your own pumpkins to spooky tattered costumes. Be creative with the items you have at home, and get inspired by the ambiance of shows like ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’, ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’, or ‘Eerie’.

1. Bond over Halloween movies.
