This is the first time since 2010 that the Philippines did not make it to the pageant’s semi-finals. We recall that Cebu City’s Beatrice Luigi Gomez who is also the first openly bisexual woman crowned Miss Universe Philippines finished in the top 5 of last year’s competition.

The countries that made it into Miss Universe 2022’s Top 16 are:

  1. Puerto Rico
  2. Haiti
  3. Australia
  4. Dominican Republic
  5. Laos
  6. South Africa
  7. Portugal
  8. Canada
  9. Peru
  10. Trinidad and Tobago
  11. Curacao
  12. India
  13. Venezuela
  14. Spain
  15. USA
  16. Colombia

In an earlier post, the country’s pageant organization Miss Universe Philippines expressed its gratitude for Cortesi’s participation. “You inspired us with your beauty, grace, and perseverance.
