Catriona Gray couldn’t hide her excitement over being interviewed by international supermodel Tyra Banks for a feature for V Magazine — a “pinch-me moment,” she called it.

According to the published story, the two were fangirling over each other via video chat. Tyra told Catriona that she has yet to recover from the iconic Lava Walk, a moment during the Miss Universe 2018 competition that even Tyra couldn’t help tweet about at the time. “I just kept watching and rewatching, like, ‘What’s her secret?'” Tyra asked Catriona. “I was totally fangirling! Where were you when you saw that I had tweeted at you?”
Catriona replied, “Oh my gosh, Tyra… I was sitting at dinner with all the girls. We were tired, quietly eating after rehearsal, when I got all these notifications from what you’d tweeted. I turned to my two friends, Sweden and Denmark, and started freaking out, like, ‘Oh my gosh, Tyra Banks just tweeted about my walk!'”

Tyra also asked about Catriona’s scoliosis, to which the beauty queen explained hasn’t been a problem to her at all except when she has to spend a whole day in heels. Tyra described it as “flawesome,” meaning “your flaws are awesome.”

When asked about how she deals with the haters with the success that she has attained, Catriona had this to say: “I really don’t understand the need to bring people down. It’s such a good feeling to celebrate and lift each other up. I would just tell them to look at their own life and how they treat other people. Maybe their perspective is a negative one, but life is too short.”
