Catholic Masses May Resume Soon, But You’re Going to Have to Make Reservations in Advance

After over three months, we may be able to start hearing Catholic masses at church again soon. But there’s a catch: you’re going to have to make reservations first.

The reservation system was thought up by San Roque Cathedral in Caloocan when it opened its doors to the faithful community on Saturday, July 11. As told to Inquirer, parishioners were required to either text, call, or sign up before attending mass for the purpose of controlling the number of people attending (at most 30 percent of full capacity, according to the strict guidelines of the government).

Parishioners will also be barred from entering unless they have face masks and undergo temperature checks, foot baths, and hand sanitation. Physical distancing will also be monitored and only those aged 21 to 59 will be accepted.

Meanwhile, a few other churches around Metro Manila, particularly in Quezon City, have also begun allowing entry, though not on a by-reservation basis. It isn’t a far-off possibility that they will follow suit, however.

What do you think about this reservation system when hearing mass?
