Catastrophe cuts deep with Ateneo Blue Repertory’s CARRIE

1 WIM POSTER 720WIDTH

For its 27th Season Newbie Production, Ateneo Blue Repertory will be adapting the harrowing narrative of Stephen King’s Carrie onto the stage.

In this version of the haunting tale, the outcast Carrie discovers she has telekinetic powers.

It seems that for once, Carrie might have a shot at being accepted by her classmates despite her unpopularity and her overbearing, religious mother. But the class’s most vicious bully has other ideas, and when Carrie is pushed to the brink, her powers threaten to overwhelm her and devour everyone around her in flames.

This cautionary tale of bullying, family, and acceptance features director Jill Peña, owner of Clowning Around MNL and actress in Atlantis Productions’ Carrie and Sideshow. blueREP’s adaptation will also feature the musical direction of Peter Romero and Lulay Santiago, choreography by Lance Bahia, and a set design by Anissa Aguila that will transport its audience to the quaint little town of 1970’s Chamberlain.

Immerse yourselves in a gruesome experience that presents the reality of abuse and repression, brought to life by professionals and the Atenean students alike.

CARRIE: The Musical will run from November 7 to November 25, 2018 at the Rizal Mini Theater, Faber Hall, Ateneo de Manila University. Tickets will be at Php 350 for students, and Php 400 for non-students.
