My Castaway experience was completely unplanned. It started off with a mere message from one of our WIM writers followed up by a phone call and fast forward to April 8 and me and my friends were suddenly on a roadtrip to Pampanga.
In case you haven’t heard of Castaway yet, it is an annual festival in Pampanga that brings the most sought-after DJs, singers and artists together to make lovers of various music genres happy. Read more about last year’s Castaway 2.0 here: Go with the Flow at Castaway 2.0 This year, SM Cities Pampanga brought the Castaway 3 Music Festival to the three SM Cities in Pampanga: SM City Clark, SM City Pampanga, and SM City San Fernando Downtown.
We were lucky enough to be part of the first night of festivities the loudest, funnest and most excited crowd was at. After all, Day 1 was all about the following DJs:

Tom Taus x Moophs
Ace Ramos x Mars Miranda
Deuce x Bea Valera x Kio Priest
Ron Poe x Jet Boado
Now, it has to be said that I have been to a lot of music festivals in Manila. A LOT. Still, despite all of the music festivals that I have been to thus far, the Castaway 3 Music Festival beat them ALL – combined.
It was a mixture of things, really, that made me fall in love with the Castaway 3 Music Festival. For starters, I just loved the crowd better. No one seemed to be high on illegal substances and everyone was super game for partying, socialising and having fun, whether they were drinking or not. Everyone was so friendly, too. Heck, someone even saw my friend drop Php500 and tried to give it back instead of just picking it up and taking it.
Plus, the timeliness of the DJs was on point (no one went on late and there was no seemingly endless waiting time in-between sets whatsoever) and the choices of free-flow alcohol were just as on point. :p That aside, the organisers were completely organised and seemingly unstressed during the entire event.
Clearly, we weren’t the only ones who enjoyed, either. Apparently, there were around 20,000 people who partied at Day 1 of the Castaway 3 Music Festival and everyone had so much fun dancing and screaming their lungs out for eight hours straight that #Castaway3MusicFestival actually trended on Twitter nationwide on Friday! If that isn’t true love, I don’t know what is.
The fun continued at the Amphitheater of SM City Pampanga yesterday where people enjoyed the music of some of the top bands and musicians in the Philippines, including Rico Blanco, Gloc 9, Pupil, Sponge Cola, Ebe Dancel, Silent Sanctuary, and December Avenue.
Tonight, on Day 3, you can look forward to the sounds of Noel Cabangon, Aiza Seguerra, and Johnoy Danao at SM City San Fernando Downtown.
On the flip side, if you missed out on the awesomeness that is Castaway 3 Music Festival, make sure you get ready for next year because I promise you: it will probably be just as much of a blast as this one!
