Carly Rae Jepsen’s New Breakup Song Has Arrived, Just In Time For Valentine’s Day

Carly Rae Jepsen has finally made her first release since her last album, Dedicated, came out in May of last year. Also, her first release of the decade, Let’s Be Friends is already being hailed as the next breakup anthem. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, its arrival couldn’t be more timely.

Of course, after a listen to the song you’ll realize that it isn’t as much about breakups as it is about relationships that never even stood a chance. CRJ perfectly encapsulates that cringey feeling of awkward first dates and short-term relationships that just aren’t going to work out. And apparently, Let’s Be Friends is inspired by “the little lie we all share to soften the blow of a breakup.”
