There has been an increasing awareness regarding #CardboardJustice.
Many netizens are calling for it. Apparently, this is in response to the alarming rate of alleged extrajudicial killings happening in the country.
There have been increasing reports of individuals who are killed and then a cardboard sign is found on them that says something like “Pusher ako” or “Drug lord ako”. Human rights groups, students, and artists are hand in hand in the movement to address the said extrajudicial killings before they get out of hand.
Awareness on #CardboardJustice was caused when Adrienne Onday, a student at the University of the Philippines Diliman, wore a cardboard written with “Lahat tayo posibleng drug pusher” (rough translation: All of us are possibly drug pushers) while traveling from Quezon City to Manila.
Onday told WhenInManila.com that this was an initiative of her friend Hope Swann, a professor at De La Salle University.
In addition to this, many artists shared their work on social media in protest of the killings.
