Cara Delevingne Opens Up About Relationship With Ashley Benson “Because It’s Pride”

Not that this truly comes as a surprise to anyone, but Suicide Squad star Cara Delevingne finally confirmed her relationship with Pretty Little Liars’ Ashley Benson. Though the two have been spotted together for about a year and their relationship has basically been an open statement, neither of them had really talked about it to the public — until now.

Cara Delevingne openly referred to the relationship twice this past weekend. She first posted a clip from their movie together, Her Smell, on her Instagram account. It featured the two of them sharing a kiss and she proudly proclaimed in her caption: “#PRIDE”.

She then explained to E! News during the TrevorLIVE gala in New York City that she had made their relationship public in commemoration of Pride Month and what it stands for: “I don’t know because it is Pride, it’s been 50 years since Stonewall happened and I don’t know. It’s been just about our one-year anniversary so, why not?”

During her acceptance speech for the Hero Award at the gala, Delevingne opened up about her own struggles to find acceptance in the industry as a queer woman. She was honored for the work she put towards ‘ending suicide amongst LGBT youth’.

In her speech, she sweetly mentioned Ashley without needing to name her: “I also have another very special woman in this room to thank and you know who you are. She’s one of the people who help me love myself when I needed it most and I really needed it. She showed me what real love is and how to accept it, which is a lot harder than I thought. I love you, Sprinkles!”
