National Pizza Day is California Pizza Kitchen‘s way of celebrating their 15 years of pizza-making in the Philippines and a way to thank their diners and employees for CPK’s success. Why on August 15? Because it coincides with the opening of the first California Pizza Kitchen restaurant in the Philippines. And 15 years later, they are still making the pizzas we love and creating new pizzas to rave about.
For every regular or thin crust pizza ordered on August 15, diners will get a free (yes, free!) pizza from the following bestselling choices: BBQ Chicken Pizza, Pepperoni, Five Cheese and Fresh Tomato, Hawaiian Bacon Pizza or Traditional Cheese. And to make your dining experience more satisfying, refillable Coca-Cola for Php50 will also be available on National Pizza Day.
Aside from overflowing pizza on National Pizza Day, California Pizza Kitchen will also introduce new dishes that are “global-inspired with a California twist” yet “100% Filipino-made and conceptualized” according to Mr. Archie Rodriguez, president and CEO of Global Restaurant Concepts Incorporated (GRCI) — the company that bought CPK in the Philippines. This is CPK’s way of showing that they are the authority when it comes to pizza and their game is to create innovative pizzas and dishes with the California twist that will suit the Filipino taste buds.
We were given the chance to try our their new dishes that will be introduced on National Pizza Day.
GRCI’s CFO Mr. Griffith Go talked to us about the National Pizza Day concept, how CPK has evolved over the past 15 years, the infusion of Filipino flavors to their pizzas and other dishes and he emphasized that California Pizza Kitchen is not just about the food — it’s all about the total dining experience.

Fried Mozzarella Sticks and Quesadilla
I am a fan of cheese so I really enjoyed their deep-fried mozzarella sticks that comes with the marinara sauce.
The quesadilla on the other hand is very unique because it’s an open-faced quesadilla, a new approach to the folded quesadilla that we are most acquainted with.
Black Seafood Pomodoro and Lasagna Milanese
These two pasta dishes are to love!! Seafood always sells for me and their lasagna was really good. They were really generous with the meat sauce and the cheese!

That does not end the list of CPK’s new dishes. There’s the Spinach with Gorgonzola, Cheese Steak Sandwich, Fruit Sangria and the S’mores Pizza (yes, a dessert pizza!) — all of which that I missed to take a photo. I was probably too busy eating that time!
I was too full already and I haven’t even tasted all of their new dishes. That means there’s a reason to go back and try the ones I’ve missed.

Their smiles pretty much sums up our enjoyment from all that food tasting, we were clearly having fun and getting really full!
