Bureau of Customs Destroys Smuggled McLaren And Other Luxury Cars

The Philippines’ Bureau of Customs seized 21 smuggled cars worth more than Php56M in Manila and Cagayan De Oro. It was then followed of destruction of the said vehicles in part of the agency’s efforts to send a strong message that the government serious with their efforts against smuggling and is also pursuant to Presidential Directive 2017-447.

According to the agency’s Facebook page, 7 vehicles are from the Manila International Container Port, Port of Manila and Port of Subic. It includes a brand new McLaren 620R and used Hyundai Genesis from POM; used Bentley 2007, used Porsche 911 C2S, used Mercedes-Benz, Lotus and Toyota Solara.

The other 14 vehicles were Mitsubishi jeeps that were seized at the Port of Cagayan de pro and was destroyed at Diamond Logistic in Baloy, Brgy. Tablon, Cagayan de Oro.

This was the 2nd condemnation of smuggled vehicles this year. The BOC also destroyed 17 vehicles from MICP, Port of Cebu, and Port of Manila in February of 2021.
