Comedian Babajie, whose real name is Alfredo Cornejo, Jr., has passed away on Monday, May 4. He was 35 years old.
According to a report by PEP.ph, Babajie had died from pneumonia past 3 PM at the San Lazaro Hospital in Manila. He will be buried, not cremated, in Sgt. Mariano Cemetery in Pasay City.
“Bakit? Maaga pa.. Bata ka pa.. (Why? It’s still too soon… you were still so young…)” Babajie’s cousin, Cid Cornejo, wrote in a Facebook post confirming his death. “Queen Babajie Cornejo forever in our hearts. Kuya.. May you rest now…”
Babajie is survived by his mother, Minda, and his three siblings, Almin, Alina, and Aljohn.
He was known best for being part of the late-night gag show of GMA Network, Bubble Gang, where he made self-deprecating jokes about his chin.
