Fury: The Movie – Stories behind World War II

Fury: The Movie – Stories behind World War II

Many people have been raving about Fury for a while now. I have been living under a rock for a while, though, so I hadn’t heard of it until I received an invite to its advanced screening recently.

I’ve watched the Fury trailer twice. The first time was because I wanted to know what the movie is all about and the second time was to analyze the more technical parts of the movie. During both times, though, I was hooked. Fury has a powerhouse cast, really good cinematography and is based on history.

If Brad Pitt isn’t enough reason for you to see this film, the movie also has Shia LaBeouf from Transformers (or Disney’s Even Stevens for the 90’s kids out there), Logan Lerman of Percy Jackson and Perks of Being a Wallflower, Michael Pena of End of Watch and Jon Bernthal or Shane of The Walking Dead in it. Another familiar face is Jim Parrack who stars as Hoyt in True Blood.

In April 1945 during World War II, Army Sergeant Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) heads the command of the M4A3E8 Sherman tank which, as the sign says, is called Fury. He has a five-man crew onboard including the newbie Norman (Logan Lerman), a typist forced into war.

Wardaddy and his crew are on a deadly mission behind enemy lines, outnumbered and outgunned. With casualties from the Nazis and the US Army, Fury continues on their journey beyond enemy lines forcing into hundreds of thousands of German fighters who are not afraid to slaughter anyone who comes their way.

In Fury’s journey deeper into Germany, the men’s bond grows stronger despite their differences. With 5 of them left from their fleet and with a busted tank on a crossroads, Fury faces 300 SS Officers and Troupers.

The audience will go on an emotional journey as they watch Norman change from being a typist to a war hero and how Brad Pitt leads his men to live another day.

You will also be moved by the superb acting of the cast and how each scene is well thought of with surprise explosions here and there. The audience should also be ready for gruesome scenes where some of the cast members are blown into pieces or shot in different parts of the body, though.

“It will end soon, but before it does, a lot more people gotta die” -Wardaddy

Fury opens in Philippine cinemas on October 22.
