Boracay TouristsĀ Arrested For Allegedly Faking COVID-19 Test Results

As the tourism industry is slowly opening, many tourists flee to Boracay with the hopes of relieving the stress of 2020 but 6 tourists were recently arrested and removed from their hotel in Boracay after allegedly falsifying the COVID-19 Test.

According to Lt. Col. Jonathan Pablito, Malay police chief, they will file a criminal complaint against the tourists after falsifying documents. Among the 6 tourists, only 1 was able to submit a real RT-PCR test result.

The laboratory also said that only one of the six tourists had their test done in their facility. The five had copied the result and submitted it as a requirement to travel to Boracay.

The tourists were brought to a quarantine facility for 14 days.

“The DOT commends the swift action of the Aklan provincial police in dealing with the suspects. Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said that similar malicious actions will not be condoned as they undermine the collaborative efforts at protecting and reviving Boracay tourism,” said the Department of Tourism.
