Bombay Bicycle Club Live in Manila on July 23, 2014

When in Manila, there’s definitely no denying that indie rock has become widely appreciated by one and all, and has propagated the likes of Spotify and 8tracks, as well as the subsequent waves of music festivals such as the infamous Wanderland festival. This month, Karpos Multimedia brings us the goods once again as British indie rock group Bombay Bicycle comes to Manila this July 23rd!

Get ready for a night of kitschy melodies and good old contemporary British rock as Bombay Bicycle Club plays their biggest hits from their latest album So Long, See You Tomorrow such as “Luna,” “Carry Me,” and “Feel,” as well as old favorites from their previous albums like “Shuffle” and “Always Like This.” The stage is set for every wide-eyed BBC fan this Wednesday at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Composed of Jack Steadman on lead vocals, guitar and piano, Jamie MacColl on guitar, Suren de Saram on drums, and Ed Nash on bass, Bombay Bicycle Club breaks all stereotypes by being one of the biggest names in British music today, with accomplishments including four albums in the span of 5 years, hits topping the UK charts and a world tour to boot; all that with its members under the age of 25!

By some unbelievable hand of fate, I was fortunate enough to have a phone interview with BBC’s Ed Nash, which provided ample opportunity for fangirl-ing and mad swooning over British accents. From my short (but sweet) 5 minutes with Mr. Nash I’ve gotten to glean over his two cents on their latest album, their inspiration for their music and a second-hand impression on touring the world.

With their upcoming tour being their first time to visit the Philippines, the BBC bassist says they look forward to finally meet their fans and get a chance to personally interact with their audience onstage. I’m sure everybody is equally excited to experience the melting pot of genres and rhythms that comprise their musical evolution from one album to the next. Nash describes their latest album So Long, See You Tomorrow to be, in a word, danceable; with each song taking a cue from the plethora of influences frontman Jack Steadman has picked up from his travels to India and Turkey.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m very excited to witness the mega-feels of Bombay Bicycle Club’s audio-artistry, sing along to all their catchy songs and see their eccentric music videos come to life. See you all tomorrow at the World Trade Center!
