Following the success of the first Veggie Drop-Off, a pop-up market where Benguet farmers sold their crops at much lower prices, the organizers are bringing the event back for this weekend, and they’re going to have two locations.
The Veggie Drop Off will be happening from March 6 to 7, and will return to the Old Manila Eco Market in Luneta. Meanwhile, it will also take place from March 7 to 8 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.
During their first run last February 28 to March 1, farmers from Benguet brought 4,000 kilograms of vegetables. Over 1,500 buyers flocked to the market, where they bought produce at much lower prices, like broccoli for P70. The same is expected to happen this weekend so better come early!
According to the organizers, the Luneta run will be from 7AM to 7PM or until supplies last. Buyers can expect “vegetables from the highlands, courtesy of Lhove Igorot Veggies & co. from Bauko, Mt. Province, and the special participation of the wonderful Rice Pinas!, who will be selling REALLY GOOD RICE that they get STRAIGHT FROM THE FARMERS at REALLY GOOD PRICES!”
The Quezon City Circle run will be from 7AM to 5PM or until supplies last.
Buyers are advised that they can only buy up to two kilograms of produce to accommodate as many customers as possible. The organizers also asked guests to bring their own paper bags or eco bags, and to expect long lines.
