Bazooka Rocks 3: How Taking Back Sunday And The Used Killed It!
Although late after being stuck in tear-jerking Manila traffic, I arrived in time for Taking Back Sunday and The Used; the two bands that truly defined my adolescence. AND OH MY GOD IT WAS SO EPIC!
Here is a good number of reasons why watching Taking Back Sunday and The Used made it so:
TAKING BACK SUNDAY
1. Adam Lazarra is such a sweetheart.
Theatrics, that ‘twang’ in his accent, those expressive eyes, that adorable face, the mic coiling around his neck…twice: instant imaginary boyfriend material.
2. Taking Back Sunday was pitch-perfect.
It’s rare that a band sounds better live than their first few albums but TBS definitely did that night and it was extremely memorable. Add Adam’s sizzling performance and you’ve got a hyped up crowd at your fingertips.
3. John Nolan rocked my socks (and shoes) off.
Lead guitarist and back-up vocals, John Nolan really did it that night. While Adam was the one who sang the heartbreaking lyrics, it was John’s screaming back-ups and slick guitars that prompted us fine young men and women to mosh the set away.
4. The audience participation was wild.
Speaking of mosh, a good part of the audience certainly did. Once ‘Cute Without The “E”’ played, we all fell into a frenzy of slamming bodies and screaming hearts.
5. Taking Back Sunday played a song request.
Adam said that during the meet and greet, he met a fan who asked him to play “My Blue Heaven” because it was played on his wedding day. And he actually did. **sigh**
