Barbs From “Stranger Things” Got an Emmy Nomination!

Barb played a small role on Stranger Things, but no one predicted the social media firestorm that ensued when was brutally murdered halfway through the series. As the caring best friend of lead Nancy Wheeler, she charmed audiences with her red bob, large glasses, and mom jeans. Vulture even wrote a tribute to her titled, “In Praise of Barb, the Best Character on Stranger Things” and the hashtag #JusticeForBarb trended on Twitter. It looks like justice has been served as Shannon Purser, the actress who played the role, was nominated for an Emmy!

Purser has been nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, and she’s competing against Alison Wright in The Americans, Alexis Bledel in The Handmaid’s Tale, Cicely Tyson in How to Get Away with Murder, Ann Dowd in The Leftovers, and Laverne Cox in Orange is the New Black.

Stranger Things is nominated for 17 Emmy Awards this season, including Outstanding Drama Series.

The second season will premiere October 27, 2017.
