Banana Republic x Mad Men: Mod-Inspired Pieces Perfect for Spring 2013

When in Manila, it is hard not to fall in love with television shows. What with people hyping up practically every new show left and right, it is almost impossible not to have caught on to the “Mad Men” craze at one point or another. I am a certified Mad (wo)Man, that’s for sure. So, when I heard that another Banana Republic x Mad Men collection was in the works, I couldn’t not jump up and down for joy.

The new Banana Republic x Mad Men collection is now available in the Philippines!

That’s right. Due to popular demand in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012, Banana Republic x Mad Men is at it again with its third collaboration and I was lucky enough to get a special sneak peek of it last week. Don’t worry. I’m here to share it with you. Feast your eyes on these breathtaking Banana Republic x Mad Men ensembles put together by the talented team behind Mega Magazine:

The menswear collection for Banana Republic x Mad Men generally includes bold plaids, skinny ties, sport coats and sophisticated suits – the latter of which is perfect for the Mad Men boardroom, don’t you think?

The women’s collection for Banana Republic x Mad Men, on the other hand, celebrates colors, prints and patterns in iconic items, like the era’s shift dresses and short hemlines, with accessories ranging from graphic scarves to geometric jewelry.

Generally speaking, the Banana Republic x Mad Men collection makes use of the fresh bold prints, sexy silhouettes and bright colors found in the show in a very fashionable and wearable manner, so you can wear them to work or while strutting your fashown self down the streets any day. (You might want to skip on the Banana Republic x Mad Men coverups when outdoors in the scorching sun nowadays, though.)

Gwen Zamora and I reunited at the Banana Republic x Mad Men launch

The Banana Republic x Mad Men launch was pretty intimate, so I was very surprised to run into my good friend Gwen Zamora there. Fun fact: my very first post as part of the When in Manila family was actually a movie review on her first international movie, “The Witness”.

Gwen was also very excited to be at the Banana Republic x Mad Men launch – but for different reasons. It turns out that a special man in her life loves Banana Republic, in general, so she was more than excited to see what the Banana Republic x Mad Men had to offer for both men and women.

During the launch, I also learned that the new Banana Republic x Mad Men collection was designed in collaboration with Janie Bryant, Mad Men’s Emmy® Award-winning Costume Designer. Awesome!

If you are as big of a Mad Men fan as I am, then you should definitely agree that the new Banana Republic x Mad Men collection definitely captures the mod vibe of the show and of the late 1960s, in general.
