LOOK: Holiday traffic lights up your favorite vacation spots

People typically like to get away from Manila during the holidays to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. One of the main perks is, of course, avoiding the bad traffic. Manila traffic during Christmastime is enough to get anyone to hate the holiday.

Unfortunately, with everyone having the same idea, the problem of traffic is never far away. Photos of popular vacation spots like Baguio and Sagada show this very truth. Although December is only starting, it seems the holiday rush came early this year.

Locals from both provinces have been posting and talking about the heavy influx of tourists they’ve been receiving. Apparently, people have been flocking over early to take advantage of the cool weather we can only get in the North. They expect that the Christmas crowds will be even worse than the ones pictured below.

This Baguio scene is captioned as “making a large parol”. You have to admit that the flow of cars does prettily resemble a parol. Still, that doesn’t distract from a large number of cars and how it seems to be almost bumper-to-bumper traffic.

And this scene from Sagada was aptly titled the “van apocalypse”. If you look closely you can see a group of people who’ve clearly given up on the situation and opted to just stretch their legs. Although locals say the traffic and locale are much calmer during the weekdays, I have a feeling this won’t apply for the Christmas break.

Whatever the case, make sure you plan your holiday getaways well and with plenty allowance for heavy traffic. Consider looking for alternative vacation spots this year instead of the usual haunts.
