Ateneo ENTABLADO stages its stand on CMO No. 20, series of 2013FB-poster

Inspired by the play “Friendster” written by Edward Perez, Ateneo ENTABLADO amplifies its socio-political identity through a contemporaneous play entitled Sa Isang Madilim, FB na Mapanglaw.

Directed by Jethro Niño P. Tenorio, the play addresses the current issue regarding the removal of Filipino subject from tertiary level curricula. It tackles the issue through a digitalized portrayal of characters from prominent Philippine literature, such as Ibong Adarna, Florante at Laura, Noli Me Tangere, and El Filibusterismo. It depicts mistaken attributions concerning Philippine language and literature by looking towards its characters in a new light. Are the Muslim people really what we think they are? Is the real intention behind Balagtas’ Florante at Laura plain romance or society reflection? What are the background stories behind Rizal’s novels?

ENTABLADO hopes to lift the underlying Filipino consciousness of its audience through this production. The show runs from January 14, 17, 20 – 24 at 7pm with 2pm matinees on Saturdays at the Rizal Mini Theater, Ateneo de Manila University.
