Actress Assunta De Rossi officially welcomed the birth of her first child on Friday, October 23, after nearly 20 years of waiting.
The 37-year-old star’s sister, Alessandra, took to Instagram to share a photo of Assunta with the newborn baby which she called “the most beautiful photo for life!”
“Little Fiore and tears of joy in my sister’s eyes,” Alessandra wrote in the caption. “Almost 20 years in the making! Miracles happen every day, and this one is the best!”
Assunta then posted a photo of her baby girl on her own Instagram account and revealed the meaning behind her chosen name: Giulia Fiorentina Alessandra.
“GIULIA- Just like how you pronounce Julia (sorry, no letter J in the Italian alphabet.?) as a tribute to her paternal great-grandfather, Don Julio. FIORENTINA- as a tribute to her paternal great-grandmother, Doña Florentina aka lola Puring (lola’s name is the Spanish version). ALESSANDRA- as a tribute to my sister and our lola Alejandra aka Inang. Plus, I like its meaning, defender/protector.”
“So there you have it! I hope she knows how much we wanted her,” she added.

In a post dated May 4, Assunta first went public with her pregnancy which she never thought would ever happen to her naturally considering her existing health conditions.
“Getting pregnant the natural way with myoma and endometriosis (which I both have) is extremely difficult. Only medical intervention or a miracle can make it happen. This was a miracle!” she gushed at the time.
Assunta has been married to her partner, Jules Ledesma, for 16 years.
