Another One of George R.R. Martin’s Books Will Be Adapted into a TV Show!

Nightflyers TV show

If you’re one of the many Thronies (is that what Game of Thrones fans are called?) who’s sad that the eighth season will be its last, worry not: author of A Song of Ice and Fire George R.R. Martin has another story that’s going to be turned into a TV show.

The novella is called Nightflyers, and is about a group of maverick scientists and a telepath who board the Nightflyer to explore alien life. As with any story written by Martin, violent events happen and they struggle to survive. The novella was written in 1980, and was adapted into a film in 1987.

This time, Nightflyers is hitting the TV screen, with a script already in place. According to Bill McGoldrick, executive vice president of scripted development for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, “The script that Jeff [Buhler] delivered encapsulates this classic sci-fi horror story and adapts it to a platform where we can truly explore the depths of madness.”

Syfy has already ordered a pilot, but there’s no word yet on when it will come out.
