Everyone’s favourite pet love fest PET WEEK is back with some of the most adored critter companions in a five-day special beginning Monday, June 23 to Friday, June 27 from 9:00 p.m. to midnight on Animal Planet. Get ready to meet the most famous Internet stars that have not only got you going awww, but have set social media counters worldwide on fire and brought newfound fame to a host of very special animal friends in the premiere of the all new eight-part series MY PET’S GONE VIRAL. Also making her Animal Planet debut in LIL BUB SPECIAL SPECIAL together with actress and comedian Amy Sedaris and a few furry friends in a slumber party like no other, is Internet sensation Lil BUB. Then, it’s an exciting look into the fascinating lives of people who have developed extraordinary bonds with exotic pets in the premiere of six-part series, PREPOSTEROUS PETS.
MY PET’S GONE VIRAL features cute and fuzzy canines and felines that have become overnight celebrities with their viral home videos. Meet the pets who have become mega YouTube stars including Denver the guilty dog whose video has already racked up over 30 million hits, Yorkies that can talk, a sweet boxer and his tiny infant sidekick, a bacon-stealing kitty, a British pug being massaged by a cat, along with a bunch of dog shaming videos that have become quite the rage. Spend a fun day with each world-famous pet star – and their owners – to find out more about these stars and how their videos have changed their lives.
Then, time to break out the catnip and pajamas as achingly cute Internet sensation – and the most amazing cat in the world – Lil BUB is hosting a sleepover! A cat-lebrity with over 664,000 Facebook friends, Lil BUB was the runt of a healthy feral litter and was taken in as a rescue when it became clear she would require special care. She was born with a multitude of genetic anomalies which all add up to one of nature’s happiest accidents – she is a “perma-kitten”, which means she will stay kitten-sized and maintain kitten-like features her entire life. Her extreme case of dwarfism also means her limbs are disproportionately small relative to the rest of her body, which makes it slightly challenging for her to move around. Lil BUB also happens to be a polydactyl, therefore, has one extra toe on all of her four paws and her front paws each have two opposable thumbs. In LIL BUB SPECIAL SPECIAL, her owner, Mike Bridavsky, is heading out of town for the night – and when the dude’s away, the cat will play! Mike enlists a special ‘bub-bysitter’ – actress and comedian Amy Sedaris – to chaperone a slumber party that Lil BUB is hosting for her wild assortment of friends…just to make sure things don’t get too catty!
