Abra Governor Joy Bernos has imposed a liquor ban in the province, effective March 20, 2020. In a memo issued by the governor, it states that this is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the province. The liquor ban will be until April 13, or until lifted or revoked, whichever comes first.

This comes after the province reports its first case, placing the entire province under enhanced community quarantine since March 17. The memo issued by the governor also states that this is in response to the increasing number of PUIs and PUMs in the province.

As of March 20, the province also reports that the first case of COVID-19 is currently stable. However, there are currently 21 PUIs and 631 PUMs in the province.

With this, the governor also imposed a travel ban on inbound private individuals in the province.

Many cities and provinces in the country have also imposed quarantines and travel bans in response to the pandemic. As of writing, the COVID-19 virus has currently infected over 262 people in the country, causing 19 fatalities.
