According to Naver, the 26th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced the former NCT member and two other defendants to three years and six months in prison.

“The defendants admitted to the crime, and based on the evidence, they are found guilty. The victim was in a state of helplessness due to intoxication, and the crime was committed at Mr. Lee’s residence. The foreign tourist is experiencing significant psychological trauma as she was assaulted in an unfamiliar place. However, the court considered the fact that the defendants were first-time offenders and that the victim did not wish to pursue punishment as favorable factors,” the court stated in a report published by Soompi.

With this, the court ordered all three to complete 40 hours of educational programming related to sexual violence. As a result, they will be prohibited from working in professions involving children and youth for the next five years.

The 31-year-old former K-pop idol was also taken into custody after the first trial sentencing due to him being a “flight risk.”

“Since we are sentencing [Taeil] to a prison sentence, we judged that there is a risk of flight, so we are issuing an arrest warrant,” the court said in a Naver report.

A month ago, prosecutors sought a seven-year prison sentence for the K-pop idol and his co-defendants on charges of special rape under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.

The K-pop idol was reportedly indicted for allegedly assaulting an intoxicated woman along with two of his acquaintances. He is currently being investigated on the charge of special quasi-rape, a specific form of sexual assault that involves targeting a victim in a vulnerable state by two or more perpetrators or the use of a weapon.

In August, SM Entertainment released a statement confirming that he had been removed from NCT.
