Sylvia Sanchez has announced that she will be taking a break from showbiz once her ongoing teleserye, “Huwag Kang Mangamba,” ends.
According to ABS-CBN News, the 50-year-old actress admitted that portraying the role of Barang, who is a mentally disabled character, in the series really tired her out and she expressed relief that they finally wrapped up the filming for the show’s last three weeks on air.
“Okay na. Naka-off na si Barang sa akin,” Sylvia told reporters. “Magpapahinga ako. Talagang sobrang pahinga ngayon. Grateful ako sa role na Barang, pero nakakapagod siya, sobra.”
“After nito, kinausap ko na si Direk Ruel [Bayani], pahinga muna ako,” she added. “Sobrang na-drain talaga ako emotionally, physically kay Barang.”
She said that she might go on hiatus for six months up to one year, or until she feels that she will be able to offer something new in future projects.
“Sa susunod na teleserye na i-o-offer sa akin, parang feeling ko, wala na akong mabibigay pa na bago, kasi drained ako dito sa Barang, napagod ako nang sobra. Gusto ko magpahinga kahit six months to one year, para sa susundo na may i-o-offer, may bago naman ako na maipakita,” she shared.
“So, hinga muna. Hinga muna. Relax na muna ako. Maglalagi muna ako sa probinsya. Iyon ang na sa utak ko ngayon. Rest muna. Para pagbalik ko, may bago kayong makita, at hindi talo ‘yung producer na mag-aalok sa akin ng bagong role.”
Sylvia was named national winner in the Best Supporting Actress category in the Asian Academy for Creative Arts for her role as Barang. The finale of “Huwag Kang Mangamba” is set to air on November 5.
