Last January 12, 2022, the U.P. Pre-Medical Society delivered ten Sulong kits, containing a tablet, bluetooth keyboard, 4G LTE sim card and 300 pesos load card to the children of the Samahang Manininda Sa U.P. Campus Inc. members. In a span of five months, they were able to raise a total of Php 72,298.5 to aid student beneficiaries in online learning and help them continue pursuing their dreams. Many students have expressed their sincere gratitude for the Sulong kits they have received. Quoting one of the student beneficiaries:
“… bilang anak ng isang UP manininda ito ay napakalaking tulong sa akin dahil hanggang sa kasalukuyan ay hindi pa po kami nakakabalik sa pagtitinda. Asahan po ninyong pagbubutihin ko po ang aking pag aaral, maraming salamat po, God bless and more blessings po sa UP Pre-Medical Society.”

There is no doubt that our help can go a long way. However, with the alienating features of the alternative modes of learning, many students and their families were burdened by the need to provide gadgets to be equipped in learning remotely through an online set-up. Although Sulong 2.0 has reached its conclusion, there is still a need to demand a more inclusive response from our educational institutions in handling the educational barriers brought upon by the pandemic. No student should be left behind.
