It is really nice to go around the Philippines’ 7107 islands and because we need to be connected all the time, we are so stoked to get to try the new Gear S3.
I have tried a bunch of Smartwatches and the Samsung Gear S3 raised the bar higher. There are two models for the Gear S3, one is the classic and the other is the frontier. Both has the same features and it is up to you on which matches your personality better. It can be worn on all occasions, whether dapper or rugged. The Classic is perfect for those who need something to suit their fast-paced business lifestyle while the Frontier is for those who are on the go and into adventures.
The touch screen display size is at 1.3″ and the steel bezel will help you navigate through all the features. You can also customize the display depending on your mood, favorite color or the occasion. Aside from the pre-loaded display options, you can also download others. It’s pretty easy to set-up and use, the watch just needs to be connected with your mobile phone via Bluetooth and voila! You are good to go!
The Gear S3 is compatible with a wide range of mobile phone devices but is best paired with a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to maximize all the special features of the smartwatch. Though you can connect the watch with your mobile phone, you can also use it by itself. You don’t have to worry about it dying on you during your adventures as the battery can last up to 3-4 days.
During our trip to Siquijor, we were able to try the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the Gear S3. Both are water-resistant to fresh water for 30 minutes up to 1.5 meters so you don’t have to worry about getting them in the water to take perfect photo, take calls and even play music. The Gear S3 has a 4GB built-in memory for your music; you can listen with the watch’ speaker or with bluetooth headset/speaker.
It is the perfect companion during our adventure to Siquijor where we jumped off the beautiful blue waters of Cambugahay Falls.
If you like hiking or even spelunking, the Gear S3 has a GPS that you can use even with your mobile phone kept safely in your bag or even your house. It can load hiking routes, check altitudes, track your heart rate and even help you with your exercises.
We went to Siquijor’s Cantabon Cave to test out the Gear S3. With the difficult terrain, water, dust, mud and rocks inside, it’s quite dangerous to bring your gadgets so the Gear S3 helped us stay connected without having to worry about getting our gadgets being ruined. The connected watch can use your mobile data plan for you to send texts, get e-mails, get notifications or even make calls though away from your mobile phone.
