Startup life is hard. It is full of challenges. Plus, with the very young startup culture in the country, it makes building one extra difficult.

It is art imitating life.
The TV series was released in 2014. It shows the inner workings of a startup in Silicon Valley. The story revolves around the lives of six young men (Richard, Dinesh, Gilfoyle, Jared, Erlich, and Big Head) who co-found a startup company in the middle of the heavy competition in the Mecca of the Business World.
The show nails the life of startup founders in Silicon Valley.
Even the characters are very relatable.
Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch), the protagonist of the show, resembles the likes of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg or Twitter’s Jack Dorsey. He is a genius coder who created an innovation called “Pied Piper” that can ‘disrupt’ the tech scene, and possibly, the world. He dresses simply –Â he often wears a hoodie.
Erlich Bachman (T.J. Miller) is the owner of the incubator where Richard created Pied Piper. He sold his startup before, and since then, he has just served as an incubator – mostly providing a shelter to up and coming startup founders. He’s more like Sean Parker as I’ve seen on the film “The Social Network.”
Gavin Belson (Matt Ross), the man behind Hooli, resembles those tech titans that overlord Silicon Valley. He is rich, powerful, and gets what he wants… most of the time.
Aside from the similarities to real people, an important thing you can learn from the show is how to be a tough negotiator. Learning how to negotiate gives you power not only in building a startup but even in the most menial tasks and decisions we encounter every day.
Three seasons of Silicon Valley are already out while the fourth is set to air this April.
