Before Broadway hit Hamilton shook the world, there was In The Heights, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s other Tony Award-winning musical staged in the early 2000s. And while we may have to wait a while before we get to see Hamilton on film in its full glory, the confirmed adaptation for In The Heights is enough to keep us theater fans going, especially after Lin-Manuel dropped an update on Twitter to finally reveal the starring cast!

His announcement definitely is a big deal as the four biggest roles of In The Heights have finally been filled, with Leslie Grace playing Nina Rosario, Melissa Barrera playing Vanessa, Corey Hawkins playing Benny, and Hamilton alum Anthony Ramos playing Usnavi.
He also shared that filming for the adaptation will begin this summer, and we could hardly wait!

The story of In The Heights begins during the hottest day of the summer in the Washington Heights neighborhood where young Hispanic-American immigrants contemplate their futures. Full of Spanish-infused freestyle raps and salsa numbers, the musical is well-loved for its moving story and dynamic performance.
In The Heights will be directed by Crazy Rich Asians’ Jon M. Chu.
