Spotify Announces Who the Most Streamed Artist of the Decade Is

A decade is almost drawing to a close and everyone has been spending the past few days looking back on all things that have defined the last 10 years—socio-political events, films, fashion, technology, and music.

Spotify, in particular, just revealed to the public who the most-streamed artist of the decade worldwide was.

The two most-streamed artists of the decade, rather.

For the female category, there’s no surprise that pop sensation Ariana Grande took the top spot with five studio albums, two extended plays, forty-six singles, seven promotional singles, and forty music videos since her debut in 2011.

She was also named third most-streamed artist globally this 2019 for her immensely popular album thank u, next which dropped in February. She trailed behind Billie Eilish at the second spot and Post Malone in first place.

For the male category, meanwhile, Canadian rapper Drake was hailed the king with five studio albums, two extended plays, six mixtapes, 133 singles, five promotional singles, and 84 music videos. He released his debut album Thank Me Later in June 2010 which eventually became certified platinum.

A few of Drake’s songs even landed on Spotify’s 50 most-streamed songs of the decade: “One Dance”, “God’s Plan”, and “In My Feelings.”

Only Ariana’s “7 Rings” made it to the list.
