‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ creator Stephen Hillenburg’s ashes scattered at sea

Now, he’ll forever be one with the sea.

Stephen Hillenburg — the man behind the hit Nickelodeon show SpongeBob SquarePants passed away due to heart failure as a result of his ALS last November 28, 2018. On an interesting note, his remains were scattered at sea.

Hope he finds rest in Bikini Bottom.

Stephen is known as an ocean freak. He studied marine biology and taught kids about life in the tide pools.

On his death certification, it was revealed that he was cremated and his ashes were scattered at sea. Specifically, his ashes were scattered at least 500 yards off the coast of California.

More than 700,000 people signed a petition to play ‘Sweet Victory’ during Super Bowl in honor of Stephen.
