Following the success of musicals being streamed online, you’ll soon be able to watch another big title for free: Zsazsa Zaturnnah!

Starting May 30, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will be streaming the hit musical on its YouTube channel. It will be available online for a week.

The musical tells the story of Ada, a gay beautician who turns into the titular superhero when she swallows a magical stone and shouts Zaturnnah. It started as a graphic novel called Ang Kagila-gilalas na Pakikipagsapalaran ni Zsazsa Zaturnnah, written by Carlo Vergara. In 2003, it won a National Book Award.

In 2006, it was adapted into film called Zsazsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh starring BB Gandanghari as Ada and Zsa Zsa Padilla as the superheroine. From 2006 to 2011, it was adapted into a musical starring Tuxqs Rutaquio and Vincent de Jesus as Ada, and Eula Valdez and K Brosas as Zaturnnah.

An animated film is in the works with Vergara creating a new screenplay. It will be developed by Rocketship Studio, the same company that made the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Saving Sally. A trailer was posted on Rocketship’s Facebook page last June.
